Inspiration: tabletop

You can't go wrong with using a rustic table for any event, casual or traditional.  Bring your chunky, worn, antiqued table outside and dress up with almost anything you've got!  This tablescape is set with green and clear found bottles with fresh white hydrangea, a simple wooden box fit with summery succulents and lovely hand painted plates.  I love the woven mats and pops of turquoise.  Paired together it makes for a wonderfully bohemian combination of organic textures and bright accents.

I love this perfectly intimate table top design by Annabelle Lane.  Woodsy, romantic and hidden away from the hustle and bustle of life.  Any brides out there wish you and your fiance could escape from wedding planning to this lovely moment for a little while?  :)

Inspiration Tabletop

Isn't this fresh garden tabletop perfectly inviting?!  And it's so simple to achieve.  Using white and blue linens, lush greens on the the table and from above, and bread and cheese to start off the evening will create an ideal setting for an outdoor rehearsal dinner or bridal shower.  I love that you don't even need flowers to create a gorgeous tabletop!

Fiesta Cake Table

I woke up to a tiny ray of sun peaking through my blinds this morning and it has made me so happy!  It's been too long since there has been any semblance of light in the morning.  So to continue my dream of the sun returning to Portland, I decided a Mexican inspired table would be a perfect piece of inspiration for this Monday.  Designed for an outdoor fiesta engagement party, Cake Ink. created a sweet cake table with adorable Mexican bird bunting, refreshing tea in antiqued glass bottles and a sun drenched color scheme!  Love it!!

I am battling some neck and back pain right now and seeing this sweet gold and pink tea setting gives me inspiration to sip my herbal spice tea and find some relaxing moments...I can almost feel it... but of course finding that magical moment in the midst of caring for my 2 energized toddlers, the household cleaning and my wonderful clients may be a stretch of the imagination.  But one can hope...

Wouldn't it be lovely to create this tabletop for your bridal shower?  Just perfect!  And if you love the adorable flags and table cards, check out The Knotty Bride for the free download and instructions by Brancoprata.

Good morning!  The rain is coming down like there's no tomorrow--flooding in the coastal areas and the rivers are getting higher and higher by the moment here in Portland!  I am longing for spring to bring forth some budding flowers and the sun to break through the darkness overhead.  But until then, I will daydream of crisp clean whites, beautifully blue floral dishware and fresh flowers for an evening supper...

I love gold accents.  In fact I remember when I was getting married 4 years ago and I wanted a little gold in my wedding and my friends looked at me like I was crazy!  But now, gold is picking up speed and spreading through the wedding world in a glorious fashion.  For 2011 gold is big and this tablescape is a fabulously modern take on the trend.  Any of you brides adding a little golden tones to your decor?

Inspiration: Holiday Tabletop

Good morning!  I can barely keep up with all of our family activities this month--Christmas shopping, plays, dinners, deserts...but we wouldn't have it any other way! My family is not hosting Christmas this year but I think this is the direction I would go for my holiday tablescape.  A beautiful departure from what is expected on a Christmas tabletop--isn't the red, red rose beautiful with the cut crystal glasses and vases?!

I fell for this romantic Parisian inspired tabletop the moment I laid eyes on it. The pale blue color palette is stunning with the garden fresh hydrangeas and soft pink peonies, and the gorgeous French toile napkin and lace is truly worthy of royalty.  Absolutely exquisite!  Check out the rest of the amazing shoot by Corbin Gurkin here!

Tabletop Inspiration: Thanksgiving

This weekend my family and I are celebrating a little a pre-Thanksgiving tradition with some dear friends of ours. We cook up a big Thanksgiving meal and enjoy a cozy evening together complete with the first Christmas movie of the season (forget yesterday's post about waiting 'till November 26...).

I love this tabletop--just enough glitz and shine to bring a traditional fall table a bit of sophistication!

Loving...

i love black and white for weddings.  there is such elegance and tradition that goes along with a black-tie inspired wedding but the danger can be your wedding looks like a bunch of nondescript, empty decor elements with no character or warmth.  go dramatic with black and white stripes but couple it with pops of beautifully bold color and sophisticated gold tableware to create a refined tablescape full of life.

rustic doesn't have to mean dingy, it can be understated elegance at it's finest.
